A Milestone on the Road to Recovery: Alicia Fights Her Way Back onto the Court

In March of this year, Alicia suffered a torn cruciate ligament while playing in the WNBL—the Women’s Junior Basketball Bundesliga—an injury that brought her current season to a premature end. Since then, she has been working consistently and with great determination on her recovery.

The Road to
Recovery: For Alicia, the torn cruciate ligament meant she would be sidelined for the rest of the season and would have to begin an intensive rehabilitation process requiring patience, discipline, and a lot of hard work. She is being supported in this process by Dr. Frank-Detlef Stanek in Jena and Dr. Thomas Bartels in Halle. She is undergoing rehabilitation at reha FLEX in Halle, supplemented by physical therapy at our Physiotherapie Jahrmarkt in Jena.

The VIMODROM Baskets Jena would like to take this opportunity to express its sincere gratitude to everyone involved for their dedicated and professional support of Alicia’s recovery.

Encouraging
Progress The past few months have shown that hard work pays off—Alicia’s rehab is making noticeable progress. A specific date for her return to the court has not yet been set; the rehabilitation process following a cruciate ligament tear is individualized and takes time. But one thing is clear: Alicia is pursuing this path with full commitment and great determination.

Support from the basketball community
Alicia received encouragement right from the start, even beyond the boundaries of her own club. Immediately after her injury in March, Olaf Müller from Lou’s Foodtruck MTV Stuttgart Women’s Basketball posted these encouraging words under our post at the time: “Alicia! Come back stronger.”
A short message that shows the sense of unity basketball fosters across club lines—and one that continues to accompany Alicia on her journey to this day.

We wish Alicia continued strength, patience, and perseverance—and look forward to the day she steps back onto the court in her VIMODROM jersey.
